An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males aged between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC stated items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his family member notified the police about his suspicions.
She explained the defendant continued to play the "treat game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining the police response of the incident.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson notified the authorities again.
She said the man then engaged in the "candy game" in a room of five children.
